Teresa Stewart was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She graduated from Wake Forest University in 1997, with a BA in political science, and from Wake Forest Law School in 2000.
Upon graduating, she worked for Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge, and Rice from 2000 until 2003, practicing civil law. While there she was in charge of a litigation project in Montreal, Canada.
In March 2003, she joined the new 21st Judicial District Public Defender’s Office.
In July 2004, she left to work for a solo practioner, focusing on criminal law in state, federal and appellate courts. One case in particular involved preparation of a Motion to Suppress in a drug trafficking case for the Federal Court; the Motion was granted by the Federal Judge presiding.
Ms. Stewart is a member of the Forsyth County Criminal Defense Trial Lawyers Association, for which she has served as Vice President, and is a member of the North Carolina State Bar.
Ms. Stewart is a member of the Friends of Brenners Children’s Hospital.
When not working, she enjoys playing with her three dogs and spending time with her friends and family. |
